Doongala ARC share the pony club grounds in Sheffield Rd, Kilsyth South, Victoria (Melways Map 65 Ref K5) and meet on the first Saturday of each month. We cater for dressage, show-jumping, cross country and trail riding; the Dandenong Ranges National Park and its riding trails back on to our grounds. We have a huge all-weather arena, yards for the horses and plenty of space for floats and cars. We also organise specialised clinics in dressage or jumping as required by members. You must be 18 years of age or over to be eligible to join the Doongala Adult Riding Club .
Doongala is affiliated with the HRCAV (Horse Riding Clubs Association of Victoria) and each year we hold two or three competitions that are open to all HRCAV members.
We cap our membership at 60 active members. All existing members will be invited to rejoin in October. Any vacancies, up until our cap of 60 members, will then be open to the public, with preference going to those on the waiting list. If you would like to be added to the waiting list, please email your details to email@example.com.
Doongala is run by a voluntary committee. The Annual General Meeting, is held at either the October of November rally. Anyone can stand for a committee position if they have a seconder, and anyone may join the general committee. It's a good way to find out how everything works. New faces are always welcome and all members are invited to attend committee meetings, which are normally held monthly on the Wednesday or Thursday night after the rally.
Committee positions are : President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer. Ordinary Committee members include the Newsletter Editor, Rally Organiser, Canteen Coordinator, TTT organiser, Website Editor and a fund-raising co-ordinator. Only committee members may vote on matters under consideration.
As with most clubs, we cannot run on just member subscriptions or the profits from competitions. Fundraising activities are arranged during the year and members are asked to help, whether it be to sell raffle tickets, chocolates or attend social functions.
All proceeds are ploughed back into the maintenance of equipment (we have two tractors, grass cutters, trailers, etc) or grounds or purchase of equipment, such as dressage arenas or show jumps.
You may also wish to subscribe to the HRCAV’s official magazine, Chaff Chat, published each month with details of competitions, changes to rules, other clubs’ activities and so on.
Doongala holds two or three official HRCAV competitions a year. They are run according to rules in the HRCAV manual, available on the HRCAV website.
